Rec Dept. Update - Thursday, May 21, 2020
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in our area, the Recreation Department has stood with the Village in addressing the outbreak by assessing risks and interpreting the guidelines recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO). The health and safety of our residents and our staff remains our top priority. While the executive order extended the “NY PAUSE,” we remain hopeful that our summer programs will run.
We recognize that physical distancing is paramount to preventing the spread of this highly infectious disease and we have listened to the concerns from leading health experts along with federal, state and local government officials, warning against hosting large, in-person gatherings.
The actions of our community members NOW will directly affect how soon we may be instructed to re-open our Recreation Facilities and offer programs such as Summer Playground, Summer Nursery School, Basketball and Softball leagues and Baseball, Basketball and Gymnastics Schools.
We urge everyone to maintain your social distancing practices. Remember, if we stay apart now, we will be together sooner! The outdoor basketball courts, walking track and fields at the Rec are open; PLEASE, PLEASE, no group play and sorry, no dogs are allowed in Vet’s Park.
As always, the Recreation Department proudly supports our community and will continue to provide you with updated information to help you thrive during these challenging times.
Update on April 28 from the Recreation Department: - Tuesday, April 28, 2020
Update April 28 from the Recreation Department:
We applaud everyone who is following the guidelines set forth for social distancing and staying home. This is a tough situation that we will conquer as we all work together to return to our normal lives.
THE STATISTICS PROVE THAT SOCIAL DISTANCING IS A KEY FACTOR IN DECREASING THE RATE OF THE SPREAD OF THIS VIRUS.
THE SPRING 2020 SESSION OF ACTIVITIES AT THE REC. CENTER HAS BEEN CANCELLED.
Based upon the information and guidance we are receiving from our federal, state and local leaders, we regret that we can no longer hang on to that slim glimmer of hope that we can open for spring session activities.
DURING THE UPCOMING WEEKS, WE WILL CONTACT ALL SPRING 2020 PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS THROUGH EMAIL REGARDING RECONCILING THEIR ACCOUNTS FOR CANCELLED CLASSES.
If you were a paid registrant for a Spring 2020 activity, please look for the email which will explain the process to you. Due to the large volume of registrations, it may take several weeks to reconcile every account.
We are currently preparing for our Summer Programs. We encourage you to register for Summer Playground, KinderCamp, Summer Nursery School, Baseball School and other individual programs on rockvillecentre.recdesk.com.
SUMMER PROGRAMS ARE ON AS SCHEDULED!
If you have questions or concerns, please contact the Superintendent, Ginger Creegan at GCreegan@rvcny.us. Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation. By staying apart now, we will be together sooner.
Update from the Recreation Department(4/9/20)
Update from the Recreation Department(4/9/20):
We hope this correspondence finds you and your family healthy and safe. We applaud everyone who is following the guidelines set forth for social distancing and staying home. This is a tough situation that we will conquer as we all work together to return to our normal lives.
As outlined in our last update, it is still uncertain as to if and when we will re-open. We are hanging on to that slim glimmer of hope that we can provide at least a portion of the spring session activities. Until that date is determined, we ask everyone who has pre-registered for classes to hang in there too. We will certainly reconcile every account when the time comes to do so.
If you have questions or concerns, please contact the Superintendent, Ginger Creegan at GCreegan@rvcny.us. Thank you for your continued patience.
